A friend called me two days ago and asked if I would like accompany her to a restaurant where she was going to share some wine and see if the restaurant would like to carry the wine. I accepted the invitation.
Two of her friends were waiting when we arrived at the restaurant and while being taken to our table she asked if the owner was in. She was told yes and they would tell the owner she had arrived. After sometime and he had not come to the table she excused herself and went to find him. She returned and stated he would be coming over shortly to taste the wine.
We ordered dinner, tasted the wine and nibbled on cheese while waiting for him to come to the table. At a certain point the waiter stated he would take the wine to the owner, he was just like that, people always waiting. Talking and laughing while waiting made for a very enjoyable evening, however, when the owner never showed I became irritated and at the disrespect. The food had not been good and now the attitude was rubbing me wrong.
Upon leaving the restaurant I asked for the owners card, the girl was excited to give me and I said “I would not be, it was not good”. Suddenly another voice rang out that she was an owner. I turned and explained how rude the male owner was and inconsiderate. She asked if he knew we were coming, I said three times it was brought to his attention we were here. She then stated we are busy, I was shocked since there were 6 other people in the entire restaurant, there were twice that staff. I looked straight at her and said “I am a business owner and that is an unacceptable statement. Also, the food was bland, over priced and I would never recommend anyone come to her restaurant and left”.
My friend thanked me because she was offended but is not of the nature to express herself easily. I explained that in my mind he was treating his customer inappropriately and I will stand up when I feel I or my friends are being treated wrong.
While drinking your tea ask how you would have felt if you had been told the owner would be happy to taste the wine and never came over.
